A little bit wistfully, I conclude the season’s award nominations with these for the Best Small Fictions anthology.
As usual, whittling our published fiction down to these five was difficult, since my approach to curating the magazine is to accept material that could win just about any award. That’s why, at times, it seems like we’re not publishing much, Dottie and I, but it’s not because we’re slacking. We think, as a matter of fact, that The Disappointed Housewife is a de facto Best Small Fictions anthology all year long.
In any case, here they are, our five nominees for this longstanding and highly respected competition:
Chewing Slippers ~ Tara Isabel Zambrano
And Now You Will Need a Very Sharp Knife ~ Catherine Chiarella Domonkos
Case Number: AT 04/05/01 3072 ~ Roopa Raveendra
How to Be Happy for Two ~ Max Paradise
Congratulations to all the nominees, and good luck in the competition.
